The 1992 1 sente marks a change of era: after Moshoeshoe II went into exile in 1990, his son Letsie III took the throne, and the royal portrait disappeared from the coin — the obverse now carries the national arms.

The arms with supporters are encircled by «KINGDOM OF LESOTHO KHOTSO PULA NALA» — the name of the kingdom and the motto «Peace, Rain, Prosperity». The reverse keeps the familiar mokorotlo hat with the value «1 SENTE», preserving continuity with the 1979 series.

In 1992 the sente was struck in two versions, in brass and in brass-plated steel. This is the steel, magnetic variety (KM# 54a) — a magnet tells them apart, and a complete Lesotho collection needs both. The coin was struck by the Royal Mint in Britain.

Grade UNC: the coin never circulated, shows no wear and keeps its mint lustre.

The VPcoins catalogue brings together coins from many countries and eras, from circulation issues to commemorative series, so a collection is easy to continue.
