China — set of 2 coins of 10 yuan 2023 "National Parks"
A set of two bimetallic commemorative coins with a face value of 10 yuan issued in 2023 by the People’s Bank of China as part of the “National Parks of China” series. The coins are dedicated to the Giant Panda National Park and the Three-River Source (Sanjiangyuan) National Park.
Giant Panda National Park coin. On the obverse is the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China. Around the rim is the inscription «中华人民共和国» and the year “2023”. On the reverse is a giant panda against a background of bamboo and the mountainous landscape of the park. Around the rim is the inscription «大熊猫国家公园» and the denomination “10元”.
Three-River Source National Park coin. On the obverse is the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China. Around the rim is the inscription «中华人民共和国» and the year “2023”. On the reverse is a Tibetan antelope (chiru) against a high-mountain landscape with rivers and snow-capped peaks. Around the rim is the inscription «三江源国家公园» and the denomination “10元”.
The set reflects China’s policy of preserving biodiversity and creating a system of national parks. The giant panda symbolizes efforts to protect rare species, while the Tibetan antelope represents the protection of the unique high-mountain ecosystem of the sources of the Yangtze, Yellow and Mekong rivers.
