The 10,000 rupiah of 1985 is devoted to Raden Adjeng Kartini (1879–1904), the Javanese woman who became Indonesia’s symbol of women’s rights and female education. Behind her portrait is the Hindu temple complex of Prambanan, and the back shows a university graduate with her diploma and the national flag.
The watermark shows Dr Tjipto Mangoenkoesoemo, and the note bears the signatures of Arifin Siregar and Sujitno Siswowidagdo. Bank Indonesia withdrew it from circulation on 25 September 1995, together with all the notes of the 1984–1988 issues.
For an Indonesia collection this is the highest denomination of the 1984–1988 run withdrawn on a single day, and in a topical set on women on banknotes it pairs Kartini with a graduate to whom education is open. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
You can compare this banknote with the country’s other issues in the VPcoins catalogue.
