The fifty zlotys dated 1 September 1929 is a note of the Bank of Poland (Bank Polski), issued five years after the zloty returned to Poland. In April 1924 Finance Minister Władysław Grabski introduced it in place of the Polish mark at a rate of one zloty to 1,800,000 marks.
The front shows a peasant woman and Mercury, the Roman god of trade. Held up to the light, the note reveals the profile of King Stephen Báthory in the watermark.
The 1929 fifty zlotys belongs in a Second Polish Republic collection: a note of the interwar Bank of Poland, issued after the zloty had been stabilised by 1926. G-VG condition means heavy signs of circulation: many folds and much wear, with possible edge defects — a note that has passed through many hands.
