The Bank of China’s 2008 series is a walk through the Historic Centre of Macau: the fronts feature World Heritage sites chosen to show an architecture where East and West live side by side. Every back pairs the Bank of China building in Macau with one of the city’s bridges, which here stand for cultural exchange and economic growth.
The front of the 50-pataca note shows the Dom Pedro V Theatre; the back, the bank building with the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge. Security features include a holographic thread and a watermark with the lotus, Macau’s emblem.
The series entered circulation on 8 August 2008, and the first printing bears that very date.
The denominations of the series add up to a route through the Historic Centre of Macau, and this note contributes the Dom Pedro V Theatre; its double subject also suits an «Architecture and bridges» theme. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
Other banknotes of this country and issues on related themes can be found in the VPcoins catalogue.
