Pisces closes the zodiac as its twelfth and final sign. In the National Bank of Ukraine's gold Signs of the Zodiac series it arrived in 2007, KM# 450, part of the second wave that followed the 2006 Aries, Taurus and Gemini issues.

In the sky the Fishes lie between Aquarius and Aries and are short on bright stars: the most prominent, Eta Piscium (Alpherg), is only of magnitude 3.6. Yet the constellation holds one of the key points of the celestial sphere — the vernal equinox, from which right ascension and celestial longitude are measured, lies in Pisces today. Precession is slowly carrying it west towards Aquarius.

The pair of fish goes back to a Greek legend in which Aphrodite and Eros escaped the monster Typhon by leaping into a river and turning into fish; in another version two fish carried them to safety.

Struck in pure Au 999.9 gold with 1.24 g of metal and a mintage of 10,000, the coin uses the series' shared obverse of a four-element circle around a stylised sun, while the reverse shows stylised fishes with the zodiac symbol. Uncirculated (UNC): never in circulation.
