The commemorative coin from cupronickel is made with the quality of proof-like minting, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy. The accident at the 4th unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the heroism and courage of the people who took part in eliminating its consequences.
The obverse of the coin is framed in the form of a large circle of dotted beaded ornament with a gap in the lower part, wh ere the denomination of the coin is indicated in the form of an inscription in a semicircle in two lines - “200,000 / KARBOVANTSEV” (200,000 / KARBOVANTSIIV). In the center of the ornamental circle there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine framed by two branches of viburnum with berries. Above the coat of arms is the date of issue of the commemorative coin - “1996”. In the upper part of the obverse, between the dotted beaded ornament and the outer edging of the coin, the inscription in a semicircle is displayed - “UKRAINE” (UKRAINE).
The reverse of the coin is filled with a thematic composition on which in the center there is a stylized image of an alarm bell, along the crown of which the inscription “CHERNOBYL” (CHORNOBYL) is cast.
