Five coins dated 2011 form Swaziland’s last circulation series before the 2016 reform, when the Central Bank withdrew all earlier coins.
The set holds 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents and 1 lilangeni, each with the portrait of King Mswati III. The 2009-2011 series moved small change to steel: the 5 and 10 cents are copper-plated, the 20 and 50 cents nickel-plated, the 1 lilangeni brass-plated.
The reverse designs continue the tradition of the first series of 1974. The 10 cents shows two sugar canes, the 20 cents an elephant’s head, the 50 cents the state arms with a lion and an elephant beside the shield.
The series did not last: in 2016 it was replaced by coins dated 2015. The set captures the final stage of the coinage before the reform and fills the 2011 slot in a Swaziland collection. UNC condition: never circulated, no wear.
