The country's monetary unit is the quetzal, named after the quetzal bird, the symbol of Guatemala.

The obverse shows the effigy of General Justo Rufino Barrios, President of the Republic from 1873 to 1885. The reverse shows an allegory of teaching. A banknote of the Banco de Guatemala.

The quetzal is collected by denomination, design year, signature and substrate variety. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.

A collection can grow in any direction, and the VPcoins catalogue has options for each of them.
