The National Bank of Ethiopia first issued this 100-birr type in 2003 and reprinted it several times with hardly a change. On the front a farmer ploughs behind a pair of oxen, with a lion's head and an outline map of Ethiopia in the underprint to the left; the back shows a young man at a laboratory microscope.
Each printing carries its own date, written in the Ethiopian calendar, which is why catalogues give two years for every variety. This note, from 2015 in the Gregorian reckoning, is dated 2007 on its face and is listed under P52 as the variety lettered g.
Compared with the earlier issue, the 2003 type brought stronger security: a thread that surfaces in several windows on the front and reveals the bank's name when held to the light, and a latent "100" that appears when the note is tilted.
Uncirculated (UNC): the note has never been in circulation.
