Germán Busch, president of Bolivia in 1937–1939, looks out from the obverse of the 10 pesos bolivianos issued under the law of 13 July 1962. The reverse shows Potosí and its mountain, the Cerro Rico.
Busch, an officer who distinguished himself in the Chaco War, ordered tin exporters in 1939 to hand all their foreign-currency earnings to the Central Bank, and died of a gunshot wound that same year. The peso boliviano, introduced in 1963, was worth a thousand old bolivianos. The note was printed by Thomas De La Rue in London.
A note of the first peso boliviano family, which circulated until the 1987 reform: for a «presidents on banknotes» or «mountains and mines» theme and a Bolivia collection, the starting point before the inflationary denominations of the 1980s. AU-UNC condition sits at the edge of uncirculated: there are virtually no signs of circulation, at most one light fold or a faint counting mark.
VPcoins helps you build banknote collections by country, by year and by theme.
