Don Carlos Antonio López, the first constitutional president of Paraguay, on the obverse and the López Palace, the presidential seat, on the reverse: the five thousand guaraníes of the 2003 series connect the founder of the state tradition and the building of power. The legal tender clause now refers to Law No. 489 of 29 June 1995, the organic law of the Central Bank of Paraguay.
The year of issue is printed on the obverse as «SERIE», and the value on the reverse is repeated in Guaraní, «PO SU GUARANI».
The paper forerunner of today’s polymer five thousand with the same design: together they show how one note travelled from cotton to plastic. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
