Banknote 5 rupees, India, 2009–2011. Refers to the series of ordinary banknotes that were in circulation, issued by the Reserve Bank of India at the beginning of the 21st century during the period of the Republic of India.

On the obverse on the right is depicted Mahatma Gandhi, on the lower left — the Lion Capital of Ashoka — the state emblem. Placed are the seal of the Reserve Bank of India, a red serial number, the texts “RESERVE BANK OF INDIA”, “I PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER THE SUM OF FIVE RUPEES”, as well as inscriptions in Devanagari “पाँच रुपये” and “भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक”. The watermark is a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, a segmented security thread with the text “RBI भारत” is present.

On the reverse is shown a scene of agriculture: a farmer ploughs a field on a tractor against the background of a rising sun, as well as a panel with the denomination name in 15 official languages of India.
