The 10-yuan note dated 1960 belongs to the first generation of Taiwan’s horizontal notes: it was in 1960 that the Bank of Taiwan, which had issued only vertical money, moved to the familiar format. Yet the note entered circulation only on 14 January 1963.
The face shows Sun Yat-sen and the Xiluo Bridge; the back shows the Presidential Office Building in Taipei. The paper carries a watermark in the form of an ancient coin, clearly visible against the light.
Bank of Taiwan notes circulated until 30 June 2002, after which they were exchanged for Central Bank money.
With a three-year gap between its date and its issue, the note is a telling piece in a year-by-year Taiwan collection and in a «bridges on banknotes» set. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
VPcoins is an online shop of coins and banknotes where a collector can find both the missing pieces and new directions for a collection.
