Paper centavos are a hallmark of the early 1990s, when Nicaragua introduced the córdoba oro at par with the US dollar and even fractions of the córdoba were issued as small notes.
The front shows the profile of Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, founder of Granada and León, after whom the currency is named; the back shows a sacuanjoche flower. The note carries no date and is attributed to 1991.
The lowest denomination of córdoba oro paper money and the starting point of the 1991 series of paper centavos: 1, 5, 10 and 25 centavos. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
