A young Paraguayan woman holding a jug is the image the Central Bank of Paraguay chose for the five guaraníes of the 1963 family. At that time all the country’s notes first received a single size of 15.5 by 6.7 centimetres, while the note still cites Decree-Law No. 18 of 25 March 1952.
The reverse shows the Hotel Guaraní in Asunción. The note was printed in black by Thomas De La Rue of London; the Pick catalogue distinguishes varieties by signatures and serial number placement.
One of the notes that gave way to coins in December 1976: for a Paraguay collection it is an essential position in the low values of the 1963 family. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
More banknotes from this country and this era are waiting in the VPcoins catalogue.
