The ten afghanis of 1358 (1979) belongs to the first series on which Da Afghanistan Bank placed its own emblem: the bank itself writes that this first happened in 1358 of the Solar Hijri calendar (1979). The seal with horsemen, a cornucopia and ancient coins sits at the centre of the front, framed by Afghan ornament. The seal took root for a long time: in the 2002 series it fills the entire front of the lowest values.
The back shows a car on the mountain road over the Salang Pass in the Hindu Kush. The ten entered circulation on 10 December 1980 with the signatures of governor Ghulam Hussain Juwaini and finance minister Abdul Wakil.
For an Afghanistan collection this is the lowest value of the first series with the national bank's seal, and for a transport theme it offers the mountain road over the Salang, which the 21st-century fifty afghanis would show again. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
