The fifty riyals of the 2008 series show business Qatar: on the back are the Qatar Central Bank building, palm trees and the Oyster and Pearl Monument, a fountain sculpture in Doha.
The main security feature is the holographic stripe at the right edge of the front, whose image shimmers as the note is tilted. The value is repeated four times in Arabic numerals on the front.
In 2008 the Qatar Central Bank updated the lower values of 1, 5, 10 and 50 riyals: raised marks for the blind appeared at the left edge of the front, and a watermark with a falcon's head in the paper. This example belongs to the later signature variety introduced in 2017: next to Governor Al-Thani's signature is that of Finance Minister Ali Shareef Al Emadi, who succeeded Yousef Kamal. The Banknote Book lists this variety as B218b; the Pick type is P31.
This is the top value of the updated 2008 series; for a Qatar collection it fills the slot of the later signature variety, and for those who collect notes showing central banks it adds the issuer's own building. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
