The hundred ariary is the lowest note of the 2017 series, and its front invites us to Fianarantsoa: it shows Ambozontany Cathedral and a view of the city, with birds in flight and a butterfly above them.
The back is given over to nature: a Madagascar poison frog (mantella), a waterfall and the comet moth (Argema mittrei), which also flutters across the other low values of the series.
The Central Bank of Madagascar devoted the 2017 series to the country’s economy, nature, culture and tourist sites. The higher values, from 2000 to 20,000 ariary, came out on 17 July 2017, while the 100, 200, 500 and 1000 ariary followed in September; against the light every note shows a watermark of a zebu’s head.
The note opens the eight-value set of the 2017 series and fits «frogs on banknotes» and «churches and cathedrals on banknotes» selections. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
