Fifty cents had a short life on Cyprus paper money: the note appeared in 1983, when the pound switched from mils to cents, and as early as 1991 it was replaced by a coin. This example is dated 1 November 1989, just two years before that change.
The front shows a woman in traditional Cypriot dress and the arms of the Republic; the back, the Yermasoyia Dam and its reservoir.
The note replaced the 500 mil note withdrawn in the switch to cents, so its story reflects the whole monetary change of 1983.
A denomination that lasted less than a decade in paper form is a characteristic piece for a Cyprus collection and for a «banknotes replaced by coins» set. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
