A port in the capital and a dance from a popular festival: this is the theme of the 10 córdobas, the lowest note of the family that the Central Bank of Nicaragua put into circulation on 26 October 2015. In this family the denominations from 10 to 200 córdobas are printed on polymer, while the 500 and 1000 córdobas are printed on cotton paper.
The front shows Puerto Salvador Allende in Managua. The back is devoted to La Vaquita, a dance from the patronal festivities of Managua, the celebrations in honour of the city’s patron saint. The note thus sets the theme of the whole series, in which views of the country stand side by side with its folk traditions.
The most striking security detail is a complex window with a colour-shifting effect showing two palm trees; next to it is a transparent window with the denomination, which also changes colour. The note bears the date 26 March 2014, while it entered circulation in October 2015.
The lowest denomination of the polymer line of the 2015 family: it opens the set of five plastic notes in the series, and the La Vaquita dance on the back also earns it a place in a «festivals and dances of the world» selection. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
